HENNA ART AND HISTORY

Henna is a ceremonial art form common in the Indian subcontinent. It has been practiced for over 5000 years on various festivals like Diwali, Rakhi, Bhai Duj, Karva Chauth, Holi, and other ceremonies like wedding, engagement, and baby-shower.

It is a temporary body art resulting from the staining of the stain from the henna paste. After henna stains reach their peak color, they hold for a few days, then gradually wear off within one to three weeks. Traditionally women and girls in the family apply henna on their hands and feet on festival days.

Henna stains the outermost layer of the skin and does not pierce the skin. Henna does not hurt. it feels cool and pleasant on the skin. Perhaps henna's most well-observed quality is its natural cooling effect, which offers a delightful tingling sensation to the skin. Once this property was discovered, people of the desert used henna to cool down their bodies. There are other healing benefits of henna like:

  • relief from headaches,

  • promotes healthy hair, reduces hair fall

  • regulates blood pressure

  • wound healing
